AR4130 Graduate Transport Planner / Transport Planner – Birmingham

Fantastic opportunity for a Graduate Transport Planner / Transport Planner to join our clients Transport team in Birmingham, working on a range of projects including transport policy development, development planning and traffic modelling.

Your principal role will be supporting senior staff with technical input into a range of projects. You will be encouraged to develop project management and commercial skills and will be supported in taking on your own small projects.

The successful Graduate Transport Planner / Transport Planner will hold an appropriate degree with some experience in transport planning / traffic modelling. An MSc would be advantageous and you will be encouraged and assisted to progress towards Chartership.

A full, clean driving licence would also be beneficial.

This is a permanent role.

AR4129 2 x Assistant Civil Engineers, West Midlands

Our client seek 2 Assistant Civil Engineers to work in a successful team based in the Birmingham area, adjacent to the M42 and M6, where you will work under the direction of a Senior Engineer. You will assist with engineering designs and liase on technical approvals, be familiar with Section 38, 104 and 278 agreements and have good competency in AutoCAD. Skills in Windes and PDS would also be preferred but not essential.

You will need good interpersonal skills to be able to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.

Salary range £25k-£30k + company car. Other benefits after qualifying period.

AR 4124 CAD Technician, Hampshire – Fixed term 12 month contract

Due to a recent major bid win, my client are looking for a CAD Technician to join their Aviation team in Hampshire. You will assist with drawing and general design duties. The role is initially being offered on a fixed term 12 month basis, but this may be renewable or transferred into a permanent position in the future.

The successful candidate will have experience in AutoCAD working in an aviation or highways environment. This will be in addition to a minimum of 5 good GCSE passes or equivalent. Training will be provided. Aptitude and a positive attitude will be important to the job, with the ability to work in a friendly, but industrious office.

The role will report to the Project Manager. Working hours are 9-5:30 Monday to Thursday and 9-4:15 on Friday with 3/4hour lunch.

AR 4122 Bridge CAD Technician, Birmingham – 3 month temporary contract – £25.00.hr Ltd Co

New 3 month contract for a CAD Technician to work in the Birmingham offices of a large multi-disciplinary Consultancy assisting with all activities relating to the production of AutoCAD drawings for a bridge replacement scheme and other projects in the Bridge / Structures team.

You will be able to demonstrate experience in the production of AutoCAD drawings for reinforced concrete bridges including reinforcement detailing. Also experience in the production of bending schedules. You will need to be a team worker and have good communication skills.

IT literate especially in MS Word, Outlook, Excel and AutoCAD.

AR 4121 Electrical Engineer, Leeds – Temporary 2mth contract Rates £30.00/hr Ltd Co or £23.52/hr PAYE

New contract post to start asap for an Electrical Engineer or Senior Electrical Engineer for 2 months, based in Leeds. Rates £30.00/hr Ltd Co or £23.52/hr PAYE.

Primary tasks will revolve around electrical engineering detailed design for a variety of projects. Experience in using Hevacomp and lighting design packages is essential. You will support the team leader by contributing to feasibility options & complete assigned tasks to deadlines and carry out sketch designs on options and assist in compiling final document. Other duties include organising and undertaking calculations to industry standards in conjunction with team members, following document control and QA processes relevant to project work, ensuring drawings, specifications, reports and correspondence are issued, reviewed and filed / archived in an appropriate manner, assisting others in compiling design specifications within given deadlines including checking compliance with the project brief through calculation and cross reference of manufacturers literature; ensuring all relevant standards and guides are used as reference with the design specification. You will organise and carry out detailed design to Building Regulation standards ensuring CDM, QA and technical review and sign off by project leader, including complex calculations and co-ordination issues.

You will also be required to visit sites as required to review construction in line with design, report and advise about non-compliance issues and risks and deal with the day to day queries from site, ensuring that relevant information is available on time for construction activity.

AR 4119 Senior Fire Engineer, London – Permanent

Our client are a leading multi disciplinary Consultancy and require a Senior Engineer to join their Fire Division in London. You will work as part of a team applying Fire Engineering techniques and Fire Safety legislation to a wide range of projects of varying complexity.

It is anticipated the successful Senior Fire Engineer will hold a degree in Fire Engineering, Building Science or equivalent and be working towards Chartered Engineer status.

With limited guidance you will project manage small to medium fire engineering projects. You will also negotiate with approval authorities on fire safety designs and proposals and produce fire safety strategy documents to inform and support the chosen building form throughout the design process. Other duties and responsibilities will include identifying and specifying appropriate fixed fire protection systems such as automatic fire detection and/or suppression to support fire engineering design solutions, carrying out and reviewing fire engineering calculations including smoke modelling and evacuation analysis from simple hand calculations to complex 3D computational modelling and understanding and applying UK Fire Safety legislation and as necessary providing support in the undertaking of fire safety risk assessments. Therefore awareness and the ability to apply UK health and safety design legislation is required as is the ability to identify design related issues and propose solutions as appropriate. You should also be able to demonstrate strong communication skills both written and verbal as you will be representing the company in a professional capacity to clients, professional organisations and approval authorities and identifying any business development opportunities. You will also be leading meetings with clients to discuss and understand new project opportunities and cascade information involving the design team as required.

As part of this role you will need to understand project finance and the commerical impact on the business, and contribute to the preparation of fee proposals for new projects, understand and apply internal quality assurance processes and understand, support and contribute to the design process and delivery of projects. This is an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Engineer to work for one of the leading Consultancies in their Fire division based in London. You will be working under supervision, developing theoretical knowledge into practical design solutions as part of a responsive team. AR 4117 Graduate Transport Planner, Permanent – Leeds

Our client are a leading Consultancy specialising in providing sustainable development infrastructure solutions from initial concepts, through to planning, to full implementation and currently seek a Graduate Transport Planner for their busy Leeds office.

Over the past few years Transport Planners and Engineers in the team have worked on a wide range of industry leading in collaboration with the Highways Agency, Local Authorities, Network Rail, private operators and masterplanners, architects and developers. The team is particularly looking for those with an ambition to demonstrate their capabilities on a wide range of transport modelling and demand forecasting work.

Your principal role will be to assist the delivery of a wide range of strategic transport modelling and demand forecasting and trasnport appraisal work across the North of England, managed from the Leeds office. You can expect to work on a number of projects at any given time and will report to the Principal Transport Planner / Associate.

Your qualifications should include a degree relevant to transport planning and transport modelling / appraisal eg mathematics, economics, geography, civil engineering etc. A Masters in Transport Planning, Economics or Engineering is desirable, along with a demonstratable track record of interest in transport planning and transport modelling principles. Ideally your degree will have included a specific transport modelling, economics or choice modelling module.

Existing experience in CUBE and SATURN modelling packages would be highly desirable as would a basic knowledge of transport appraisal tools such as TUBA and COBA. High levels of general proficiency in Excel and data processing is required to support and work with some of the existing tools and choice models developed by the team. You will be able to produce clear, tidy and coherent analysis, report and plots from transport models, and from transport appraisal packages. An ability to work both as part of a team and independently to solve problems is required.

The successful Graduate Transport Planner will be provided with a range of further training and significant experience in micro-simulation and transport planning and engineering packages. You will be encouraged and assisted to progress your training towards Chartered status, together with an accredited training scheme.

AR 4116 Section 278 Engineer, Berkshire – Permanent

Our client have a 10 year term contract to provide Highway and Transportation Services and as part of this are currently seeking a Section 278 Engineer based in Berkshire to undertake all aspects of service delivery.

Your main duties and responsibilities will include undertaking Section 278 design assessment including checking of detailed engineering drawings and inspection of highway works on-site, managing contractors and other third parties, liasion with other staff, dealing sympathetically with queries raised by members of the public in relation to Section 278 works, completion of responses/replies to key set targets and deadlines and detailed design experience associated with construction management.

It is anticipated the successful Section 278 Engineer will hold a relevant degree or equivalent professional qualification and have a detailed knowledge of engineering design and construction methodolgy.

Knowledge of project and programme management, current Highway Development Control and Planning Law and an awareness of initiatives in current transport planning activities including travel planning would be an advantage. You must also be able to demonstrate up to date and relevant knowledge of all aspects of transportation planning, including statute, government guidance, policy, strategy and implementation, issues of sustainability, green travel, public transport, cycling and walking and an awareness of some of the following; Traffic modelling, LDF/SPD process / planning regulations and requirements, liasion with deveopers and engineering awareness eg awareness of timescales, risks, planning and costing.

Our client have a 10 year term contract to provide Highway and Transportation Services and as part of this are currently seeking a Development Control Engineer based in Berkshire to undertake all aspects of service delivery. Depending on level of expertise this may include staff management, attendance at planning committee meetings and liasion with other departments. You will be responsible for major development applications and applications through the Local Development Framework and Core Strategy.

Duties will include; provision of transportation and highways advice on major planning applications, providing professional advice to the client and commenting on planning law and precedents, completion of responses / replies to key set targets and deadlines, negotiate and secure where appropriate the provision of off-site transport infrastructure works and contributions and prepare and give evidence at Public Inquiries / Informal Hearings as required. Other responsibilities involve ensuring Health and Safety obligations are delivered, preparing reports on issues relating to the service and liasion with the team.
